  Part 1 Definition A descriptive text usually focuses on describing a single location, object, event, person, or place. It endeavors to engage all five of the reader's senses to evoke the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and feel of the text's subject. Generic Structure Identification is an introduction, in the form of a general description of a topic.  Description contains special characteristics possessed by the object, place, or person being described. For example, characteristics, physical appearance, and other things that are written specifically. Characteristics Descriptive Text Verbs used are attribute verbs , such as be ( am , is , are ) The tense used is simple present tense Only focus on that one object.   Part 1 Definition Procedure text is a text that explains or helps us how to make or use something. Its social function is to describe how something is completely done through a sequence of steps. Communicative purpose of this text is to describe how something is made through a sequence of actions or steps. There are three generic structures in procedure text. 1. Goals 2. Material 3. It features numbered points, time connectives, pictures, diagrams, labels and captions to help the receiver understand the process of what’s being delivered. What are the Key Features of an Explanation Text? Explanation text is typically written in the present tense with formal to-the-point language that doesn’t deviate from the topic. PART 1  DEFINITION   A caption is a short text above or below an image in a book, magazine, or newspaper that describes the image or explains what the person in it did or said. STRUCTURE: Opening Opening (pembuka) Usually an image is written in a larger size to attract the attention of the reader. Content Content (isi) contains concise information to explain the image.
